I have owned my Little Guy Trailer for 2 ½ years. And because I make YouTube videos about my camping life and share small camper tips and tricks, I get asked a lot of questions about this Teardrop Trailer. Well, today you are going to get your answers… In this Everything Little Guy Max Q&A!

Everything You Need to Know About the Little Guy Max

#1 How long is the Little Guy Max?

Overall Length: 21 ft

The overall length of the Little Guy Max trailer is 21 feet. I like this question because I am often the smallest camper at a campground, and I love it. Small campers have so many advantages over the big guys.

#2 How Much Do Little Guy Trailers Weigh?

The dry weight for the Little Guy Max trailer is 3010 lbs.

#3 Any Little Guy Max Problems?

Since owning my Little Guy Trailer I have had three problems.

  • First, while driving down some bumpy roads a couple cabinet doors popped open. These doors had one door catcher, so my husband Tom added two more to each one of these cabinet doors. This helped secure the doors and solved that problem.
  • The second problem I had, like the doors, 2 drawers flung open and fell off the hinges while driving. To fix this problem the drawer hinges needed to be replaced.
  • The third problem I had was when I opened the front door on a windy day the wind caught the door and flung it open slamming it against the side window… breaking the window. So, I replaced the window. To prevent this from happening again I added a magnetic door stopper to catch the door.

#4 Does This Small Camper Have a Bathroom?

Yes, The Little Guy Max has a bathroom. It is a wet bath which means it is a shower/toilet combo that offers all the features of a regular bathroom, in a compact package making the most out of every inch of space. It also has with a marine style porcelain toilet.

#5 Can You Winter Camp in a Little Guy Trailer?

Yes! I love to winter camp and although it is not a 4-season camper, I have had many cold-weather camping adventures in my Little Guy Max. I live in Minnesota so I de-winterized the trailer before the temperatures dip below freezing therefore, I do not use the water tanks while camping in the winter.

To keep warm, I use the Little Guy Max propane furnace, or if I have electric hookups I plugin a milk house heater and that keeps me nice and warm. Winter camping is so much fun… if you have not tried it, you need to!

#6 What Does a Little Guy Max Cost?

In 2018, I paid about $30K for my Little Guy Trailer with the Rough Rider package. I reached out to Joe Kicos, the director of sales for Xtreme Outdoors to find out how much the Little Guy Max costs today and he said the Max is around $34k but it depends on options and shipping to the dealers.

#7 What is a Little Guy Max?

To me, the Little Guy Max is….

  • A small camper that has allowed me to go on some amazing adventures.
  • It is a teardrop trailer because of its teardrop shape.
  • It comes with upper-end features such as hardwood maple cabinetry throughout.
  • It was an A/C, Furnace, Kitchen with sink and stove, and bathroom (wet bath), plus full queen size bed.
  • It sleeps 3 comfortably with a dinette that converts to a second sleeping area.
  • Basically, it is a teardrop camper with all the amenities of home.

Mine is a 2018 Little Guy Rough Rider package which means it has:

  • 15″ Off-Road Tires & Wheels
  • 5″ Axle Riser for Added Clearance

#8 My Top 3 Little Guy Max Features:

  • The windows are my #1 feature! The Little Guy Max has 7 windows, and I can see outside on all 4 sides – there are windows everywhere plus a star-gazing window in the bedroom.
  • I do not like clutter, so my second favorite feature is the amount of storage in this small camper. There is ample storage space both inside and outside.
  • And my third favorite feature is the Full Queen size bed.

#9 My Top 3 Things I Would Change on the Little Guy Max:

  • I love the Dinette area but getting into and out of the driver side seat is a tight fit. So, I need to slide the table over to the other side to get in and out. This can be a little tricky if someone else is seating on the other side. But once you sit in here there is plenty of room.

The second and third things I would change have to do with the front door as I previously mentioned.

  • I wish the front door had a built-in mechanism to prevent it from hitting the front side window when flinging open – like me I would imagine others might have broken their window as I did.
  • Also, the front door came with a latching system to hold the door open, but it was made of plastic and the latch never held for me. Installing the magnetic door stopper both stopped the door from hitting the window and it keeps the door secure when I want to keep it open.

Today, Little Guy Trailers is owned by Xtreme Outdoors LLC, based in northeast Ohio. Four models of Little Guy teardrops are built in their facility in Somerset, Pennsylvania.

#15 Is a Teardrop Trailer Worth It?

In my opinion… YES! I love my Little Guy Trailer! Teardrop trailers are small campers, generally ranging from 8 feet to 10 feet in length. So, the Little Guy Max is a large teardrop trailer.

The Little Guy Max is…

  • small enough to have so many advantages over the big guys. Some of my favorite camping adventures have been in remote locations that larger RVs just would not be able to access or fit in.
  • Yet it is large enough to provide many comforts of home including a bathroom.
