I have found a campsite checker service that is a game-changer. This service is Campnab and it will help you make campground reservations as soon as someone makes a campsite reservation cancellation! I have put the Campnab app to the test and am so excited to share this with you! Because as you know, making campsite reservations has gotten very competitive. And that means your less likely to find an available campsite at your desired campground on the dates you want.

What is Campnab?

Campnab allows you to nab reservations at sold-out campgrounds.

You tell them when, where, and how long you want to camp for. And Campnab will notify you with a text message when a suitable spot opens up at that campground—so you can nab that sold-out campsite reservation!

How to Set Up a Campnab Campsite Cancelation Alert

To begin setting up a campground reservation alert first enter the name of the park.

You can even select specific campsites to monitor! This can be helpful if you have a favorite campsite and want to know if it becomes available, or maybe a campground has waterfront campsites and you want one of these, or if you only want drive-through campsites.

If available you can also filter the type of campsite you want to make a reservation at.

Fill in other available options and filters.

Once you click ADD SCAN… that’s it. Campnab will now monitor this campground for you and notify you via text message when there is a cancelation for you can grab it.

How Campnab Helped Me Make a Campsite Reservation at a Sold-Out Campground

I just planned an 11-day camping trip in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan…. In fact, I have an upcoming video showing you how to make multiple camping reservations for an extended camping trip but in this video I share that I really wanted to camp at the Twelvemile Beach campground located on Lake Superior. This campground has gorgeous waterfront campsites but like a lot of great campgrounds, it was booked during the dates I needed to make a campsite reservation for. So I found an alternative campground to make my reservations at.

It was shortly after this that I discovered CampNab and I created an alert for this campground on my desired dates.

A couple of days later I received a text message that a campsite had just become available at the Twelvemile Beach campground! The text took me straight to the campground reservation website where I could view the campsite details. And I booked it! I was so thrilled!

How Exactly Does Campnab Work?

Today, most campsites need to be reserved months in advance to secure a campsite reservation. Especially at popular campgrounds. People may book more spots than they will use and life happens. Sometimes our plans change. People cancel campground reservations for a variety of reasons. When they do this the canceled campsite becomes available.

Campnab scans these sold-out campground websites and when a cancelation becomes available that matches your alert they send you a campsite reservation alert notice. Now that’s slick!

This is why I am so excited to share this with you.

It appears a lot of people really do make camping reservations and then cancel them for one reason or another. And knowing within minutes of these cancelations is a huge benefit for us wanting to secure a campsite. Because people are constantly looking for campsites and when one becomes available it can be nabbed up within seconds or minutes of the cancelation. So every minute counts.

There were a few times when I received an alert and clicked through to view the campsite details the campsite was no longer available.

And, I gotta tell you, it was fun getting the Campnab text message alerts! I kind of felt like I was winning the lottery.

Where is Campnab Available?

Campnab scans campgrounds throughout Canada and the United States. These campgrounds include national, state, and provincial parks and all campgrounds that can be booked via Recreation.gov and Reserve America. So, that is a pretty good list.

Their current campground count is approximately 3,200 parks, 7,000 campgrounds, and hundreds of backcountry permits. The list of campgrounds can be found on their website: https://campnab.com/parks

When I spoke to Eric one of the owners of Campnab and he told me they started Campnab because they were frustrated with finding available campsites. He also had some comments and helpful suggestions.

Campnab Tips

  • It’s important to note – Our service doesn’t reserve the campsite for you. If no one cancels a campsite reservation you will not get alerts.
  • There are no guarantees, but we do see a lot of cancellations over the season. If you do receive an alert, act fast, as others are looking for these spots too.
  • The further in advance you start planning and create your campsite reservation alerts, the better your odds.

So much does Campnab cost?

Campnab offers many pricing options including a pay-per-use choice. Or you can choose a monthly plan starting at $10. They also offer yearly plans that save you 25% and the annual plans start at $90. This flexible pricing is great! If you camp just a couple of times a year or if you are a full-timer you can find a plan to maximize your campsite reservation alerts.
